The Good News About Menopause No One Talks About

Jul 9, 2026 | Blog

You know what makes people feel great?

Balanced, steady hormones.

If you are in perimenopause, this is darn near impossible! But good news—menopause is coming, and postmenopause can actually be one of the BEST times in a woman’s life… if hormones are balanced.

Let me start with some definitions.

Perimenopause is the time around menopause. It can last for several years, usually starting in the early 40s and continuing until menopause.

Menopause is a single day in time. It’s the day you’ve gone 12 consecutive months without a period. The very next day, you are officially postmenopausal.

By the time you reach postmenopause, hormones are generally low—but stable. And stable feels a whole lot better than fluctuating.

It’s the hormonal fluctuations and imbalance that create a host of symptoms like mood swings, irritability, depression, hot flashes, night sweats, poor sleep, weight gain, and low energy.

But do you know what’s even better than low, stable hormones?

Mid-range, balanced, stable hormones.

That’s the goal.

We try to achieve this in perimenopause, and it definitely helps, but it’s tricky because the body is still producing hormones—and production is inconsistent. Some days it’s a little; other days it’s a lot. Finding the perfect dose can be challenging.

Postmenopause is much easier.

The body is no longer producing significant amounts of hormones, so a simple saliva test can tell us where you are, and hormone replacement therapy can be customized to meet your exact needs.

Balanced, natural bioidentical hormones can lead to:
• Improved mood
• Increased energy
• Easier weight loss
• Increased libido
• Decreased risk of Alzheimer’s disease
• Decreased risk of coronary artery disease
• Improved bone mineral density
• And so much more

Estrogen alone has over 400 functions in the body.

When prescribed correctly, the risks are low, and the benefits can be tremendous.

If you are newly postmenopausal, your hormones may not have been stable since you first started your period as a young woman. Think about that.

Now, for the first time in decades, you can have steady hormone levels every single day.

It can feel like a dream come true.

Menopause is also about much more than hormones.

For many women, it comes at a time when life is finally shifting. After years—often decades—of pouring into kids, husbands, aging parents, careers, and everyone else, there is finally more space to focus on themselves.

More time.
More wisdom.
More resources.
More clarity about what really matters.

I actually see this as an incredible opportunity.

This can be the season when women stop running on empty and start truly thriving.

A few key things to remember:
• Saliva testing is best. It helps us determine how much hormone is actually available for your body to use at the tissue level.
• Transdermal estrogen is preferred over oral estrogen. Oral estrogen increases clot risk.
• Progesterone—not progestin. Progestin is synthetic and has a very different risk profile. Progesterone is natural and offers important protective benefits.

I love things that help me feel great now and protect me from future disease.

Postmenopausal bioidentical hormone replacement therapy can do both.

Win-win.
